Overall, I think the cruise is a great option for activities in Tokyo. While I think the window seat is worth it, you don’t need to book the window seat because you can just spend time on the open deck or other parts of the ship. My husband wanted to guarantee a window seat, so he booked the Japanese Beef Steak set for us, which is a 5-course meal served in French style. As you can see from my photo, the window was large and offered an unblocked view for the entire cruise. Once you’ve conquered The Perfect Storm waterslides, keep the thrills going strong onboard Symphony of the Seas with an exhilarating zip line ride ten stories above the Boardwalk. Like many other onboard attractions, riding the zip line is complimentary to all cruise guests, and it’s kid-friendly, too — your little ones just have to meet the 52-inch height requirement. The cruise I went on was the Sunset Cruise, which runs for 2 hours in the late afternoon. But because I went during winter, the days are short and the sun sets about 20 minutes after we’ve started cruising… so it really felt like a dinner cruise.

A casual buffet restaurant features an array of favorites, with a fabulous dessert station and much more. There are plenty of bars onboard Symphony of the Seas if you’re looking to grab a drink, but the Bionic Bar is hands-down the coolest one. At this Instagram-worthy drinking spot, two robotic bartenders shake, stir and muddle drinks with fluid moves and flawless efficiency. You can choose a classic or signature drink from the menu or enter your own recipe into one of the iPads at the bar. Even if you’re not looking to get your sip on, you should still stop by just to watch these mecha mixologists work.
The best piece of advice I can offer when it comes to shows is to make reservations for all of your "must-sees" as early as possible, especially the AquaTheatre show. You never know if later productions will have to be cancelled due to unfavorable sailing conditions. The Symphony Moderna is a big ship, so in between the courses of our meal, we snuck out of our seat to explore all the levels on the ship. After escaping the blunder, we were quickly seated in our dining area in the Four Seasons room. Another note on seating – for the Sunset and Dinner Cruise, your seating is determined by which meal you booked. You cannot book different meals as you will be seated on different parts of the ship.

El Loco Fresh was my favorite quick-service spot, as I loved being able to build my own tacos and nachos! We kept going back and forth between the top deck and the meal for the entire 2 hours of our cruise. On October 1, 2018, RCI announced that the company's 50th birthday cruise (themed "50 Years Bold Birthday Cruise") will be held on Symphony of the Seas leaving roundtrip from Miami (November 2, 2019).
